چکیده

The evolution of Web applications is the continuous process of maintaining available and developing new functionalities. Already implemented functionalities are provided by the units of the distributed Web system, i.e. its components and services, which have to be maintained to assure a stable operation. Furthermore, to react on upcoming needs existing units are adapted or new ones are developed and integrated. Depending on the unit of evolution, more or less efforts are invested. Alas, the benefit caused by units evolved becomes only apparent after some time and usually solely with regard to the entire product. However, the values of units of evolution are subject to change during their life cycles because they are influenced by several parameters like audience acceptance, development and maintenance costs. That is, before a positive or negative impact on the product revenue can really be perceived, the values of Web application services and components already underlie changes. So, it would be profitable to take notice of such value alternations to be able to anticipate revenue tendencies as early as possible and consequently to initiate appropriate actions on time.

A Web Engineering Approach to Model the Architecture of Inter- Organizational Applications

During recent years, the World Wide Web (WWW, Web) has increasingly been used as a platform for applications that link together processes both between and across organizations. Acting as distributed components, Web Services provide a standardized way of externalizing functionality on a global scale and as such enable accesses that transcend organizational boundaries to form federated applicatio...

Development and Evolution of Web-Applications Using the WebComposition Process Model

From a software engineering perspective the World Wide Web is a new application platform. The implementation model that the Web is based on makes it difficult to apply classic process models to the development and even more the evolution of Web-applications. Component-based software development seems to be a promising approach for addressing key requirements of the very dynamic field of Webappl...

Proposing a quantitative approach to measure the success of energy management systems in accordance with ISO 50001: 2011 using an analytical hierarchy process (AHP)

ISO 50001: 2011 provides an integrated and systematic framework to plan, implement, operate, certify, and maintain energy management systems (EMSs). Evaluation of organizations in relation to meeting the standard requirements is performed by an auditing qualitative approach. In this research, a quantitative approach has been proposed and implemented to assess organizations and rank them based o...

Lightweight Data Integration using the WebComposition Data Grid Service

With the advent of Web 2.0, the user becomes a producer creating lots of data by consuming the functionality of the respective Web applications. Even though more and more valuable data is created, it is difficult to reuse it due to lack of structure. In this paper we discuss easing data integration by using the WebComposition Data Grid Service (WebComposition/DGS). Our approach separates techno...

Utilizing Abstract WebEngineering Concepts: An Architecture

In this paper we present an open, platform independent, and scalable architecture that implements WebComposition using an object-oriented approach in design and realization and an abstract component model as the platform of development. A web application will be introduced as a set of service components, each providing a closed part of functionality. These service components are designed for re...
